| Child Asthma Coalition |
The Child Asthma Coalition was formed in 2001, this coalition still continues to meet bi-monthly and has had on-going goals to reduce the rate of asthma related hospitalizations in Alamance County, reduce the number of school days missed by children with asthma, and provide families with asthmatic children education and resources to improve their care.
The coalition improves the health and well-being of asthmatic children and their families by providing education, fostering collaboration and strengthening resources.
Do you think your child has asthma? Completing the Asthma Questionnaire can help you decide if you need to seek medical advice from your family physician.
Does your child's school know what to do should an asthma attack occur? Having an Asthma Action Plan (click below to get a copy) in their student record will help. Have your physician complete the Asthma Action Plan at your next visit. Give a copy to school personnel so that they can better help your child manage their asthma.
The Pediatric Asthma Center located at Alamance Regional Medical Center educates asthmatic children (birth to age 17) and their families about ways to control and prevent asthma attacks. These services are open to all individuals interested in asthma education.
The Healthy Alamance Child Asthma Coalition is a partnership of Alamance Regional Medical Center, Alamance County Health Department, Alamance-Burlington School System, Smart Start of Alamance County, and also includes local pediatricians, pharmacists, and parents of asthmatic children. For more information about the coalition or to get involved, please complete the contact us section of the website or visit the health events to see what is coming up!
